MD5 hash calculation and verification using the MD5 File Validation feature can be accomplished using the following command:.Network administrators can also provide an MD5 hash to the verify command. If provided, the verify command will compare the calculated and provided MD5 hashes as illustrated in the following example:. If the network administrator provides an MD5 hash that does not match the hash calculated by the MD5 File Validation feature, an error message will be displayed. This message is shown in the following example:. This approach is in contrast to the updated verify command present with the "Image Verification" feature, which calculates the hash for the entire Cisco IOS image as well as specific portions of the uncompressed Cisco IOS image file. The purpose of the Image Verification feature is to ensure that corruption of the Cisco IOS software image file has not occurred. The corruption detected by this feature could have occurred at any time, such as during the download from Cisco.Note: The Image Verification feature does not check the integrity of the image running in memory. Cisco IOS software image file verification using this feature can be accomplished using the following commands:. Note: Only the file verify auto global configuration command and the verify privileged EXEC command will be covered in this document.Network administrators can use the file verify auto global configuration command to enable verification of all images that are either copied using the copy privileged EXEC command or loaded using the reload privileged EXEC command. These images are automatically verified for image file integrity. The following example shows how to configure the file verify auto Cisco IOS feature:. This argument must be used each time an image is copied to or reloaded on a Cisco IOS device if the global configuration command file verify auto is not present.Network administrators can also use the verify privileged EXEC command, originally introduced for the "MD5 File Validation" feature and updated by the "Image Verification" feature, to verify the integrity of image files that are stored locally on a device. The following example demonstrates how to use the updated verify command on a Cisco IOS device:. In the preceding output, three MD5 hash values are displayed by the verify command. The following is an explanation of each MD5 hash value:.In certain circumstances, network administrators may consider moving an existing Cisco IOS software image file from a Cisco IOS device to an administrative workstation.Once on the administrative workstation, independent tools can be used to calculate the MD5 hash of the file. Two options are available for administrators to perform this task. One option allows the administrator to use the Cisco IOS software in use on the device to copy the stored Cisco IOS software image file to an administrative workstation. If this process is being carried out for security reasons, administrators are advised to use a secure protocol such as SCP to transfer the file. This process is accomplished using the copy command as illustrated in the following example:. A second and recommended option, one that provides an additional level of security, is to restart a Cisco IOS device using a known-good version of Cisco IOS software from a trusted location. Administrators can accomplish this task using the boot system global configuration command as illustrated in the following example:.Once the network device has been restarted with a known-good Cisco IOS image, a network administrator can verify the locally stored image using the verify command or by copying the Cisco IOS software image to a remote file server for offline verification. Before using the ROM monitor, you should understand the following concepts:. The router boots to ROM monitor mode when one of the following occurs:.Note Recovering the system image is different from upgrading the system image. You need to recover the system image if it becomes corrupt or if it is deleted because of a disaster that affects the memory device severely enough to require deleting all data on the memory device in order to load a system image. This product can be configured using the Cisco command-line interface CLI. The CLI conforms to accessibility code because it is text based and it relies on a keyboard for navigation. All functions of the router can be configured and monitored through the CLI. For a complete list of guidelines and Cisco products adherence to accessibility, see the Cisco Accessibility Products document at:. Note This section does not describe how to perform all possible ROM monitor tasks. Use the command help to perform any tasks that are not described in this document. This section provides two ways to enter ROM monitor mode:.To enter ROM monitor mode by reloading the router and entering the Break key sequence, follow these steps. Press Ctrl - Break. Interrupts the router reload and enters ROM monitor mode. The Break key sequence varies, depending on the software on your PC or terminal. This section describes how to enter ROM monitor mode by setting the configuration register to boot to ROM monitor mode at the next system reload or power-cycle. For more information about the configuration register, see the Changing the Configuration Register Settings document at:.Router config config-register 0x0. The following example shows how to set the configuration register to boot to ROM monitor mode:. This section describes how to display ROM monitor commands and command syntax options. Displays a summary of all available ROM monitor commands. Displays syntax information for a ROM monitor command. To display a list of the files and directories in the file system, use the dir command, as shown in the following example:.This section describes how to load a system image by using the boot ROM monitor command. Determine the filename and location of the system image that you want to load. Note In IOS, flash0 will be aliased onto flash. It is not necessary to use a bootloader image from the compact flash device. Any system image can be used for this purpose. Cisco E and Cisco E do not support this boot option. The following example shows how to load boot flash memory and USB boot flash memory:. If you want to configure the router to load a specified image at the next system reload or power-cycle, see the following documents:. This section describes how to modify the configuration register by using the confreg ROM monitor command. You can also modify the configuration register setting from the Cisco IOS command-line interface CLI by using the config-register command in global configuration mode. The modified configuration register value is automatically written into NVRAM, but the new value does not take effect until you reset or power-cycle the router. Changes the configuration register settings while in ROM monitor mode. In the following example, the configuration register is set to boot the system image from flash memory:.In the following example, no value is entered; therefore, the system prompts for each bit in the register:. This section describes how to obtain information on USB devices that are installed in the router. Displays the contents of the USB flash device, including directories, files, permissions, and sizes. Using this command improperly can adversely affect the functioning of the router. Before you can enter the tftpdnld command, you must set the ROM monitor environment variables. Connect the TFTP server to a fixed network port on your router.Sets the TFTP server from which the software is downloaded. Sets the name and location of the file that is downloaded to the router. Optional Sets the input port to use one of the Gigabit Ethernet ports. The default is 0. Optional Sets the Gigabit Ethernet port speed mode, with these options:. Paradox Interactive have officially announced that they are currently working on an unannounced project with Colossal Order but sadly, it is still too early in development to share more details at this time.Colossal Order, Paradox Interactive, and Tantalus are not entirely happy with this, which is why they will add support for mods to the Cities version : Skylines for Xbox One.The best of all is that all content that is available as a mod will be free. Something that is important to note is that this option will not present all the mods available for Cities: Skylines for PC. That is, Xbox One users can only select among the available mods in a list curated and approved by the developers of this version. The good thing is that the door is open to the possibility that the number of mods available increases. We are excited to hear what you think about these initial mods and if we seem to be on the right track, please tell us.That said, the information published on Xbox Wire seems to indicate that from tomorrow a mod browser will appear from which players can see the available mods and install the ones that they like the most.
